Caitlin Long's Avanti crypto bank hires C-suite

Updated: May 2

Avanti Financial Group, which recently announced its intention to act as a compliant bridge between digital currencies and the U.S. dollar payments system by becoming the first special purpose depository institution in Wyoming has announced the remainder of its founding and executive team.

Apart from blockchain legislative champion and Wall Street veteran Caitlin Long as CEO, the founding team will include:

1. Bryan Bishop, co-founder and Chief Technology Officer

Bryan is a Bitcoin Core developer, and was previously a senior blockchain engineer and custody architect at LedgerX, the first Commodity Futures Trading Commission-regulated options exchange and clearinghouse for digital assets. Commenting on his crypto custody experience, Caitlin Long said:

The fact that Bryan has already done this at LedgerX puts him in a small group of people who have built secure crypto custody platforms that are proven in the marketplace and have survived daily attacks from adversaries.

Mr. Bishop will also join Avanti’s board of directors.

2. Britney Reddy, co-founder, chief of banking operations and Chief Financial Officer;

Britney is a banking veteran, having held multiple roles including CEO, president, CTO, CCO and COO roles at various Wyoming banks.

3. Zev Shimko, co-founder and Chief Operating Officer;

Zev has a wealth of blockchain and financial industry experience, having started his career at Morgan Stanley in global capital markets, before moving on to leading the corporate development team at SALT, a crypto-backed lender and his current role as director of Figure, which recently securitised $150 million in home loan equities.

4. Chuck Thompson, co-founder, Chief Compliance Officer and Chief Legal Officer.

Chuck is currently CEO of Blockchain Consulting LLC, and CCO at LedgerX, prior to which he was in-house counsel at Morgan Stanley, and practiced law at Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton and Shearman & Sterling.

Commenting on the appointments, founder and CEO Caitlin Long said:

We have assembled a team of all-stars who have significant experience in regulated financial institutions... We’re building a bridge that doesn’t yet exist between two different financial systems, and this team has top-quality execution skills to do it.

Avanti continues to plan to launch in early 2021, subject to obtaining approval of its SPDI charter by the Wyoming Division of Banking.
