The next Blockchain Professionals meetup on 25 March 2020 covering CBDC's with Michael Bacina will be hosted on Youtube Live, as part of the Sydney blockchain community doing its part to help contain the COVID-19 pandemic.
At the live broadcast, Michael Bacina will be speaking about Central Bank Digital Currencies, including how they work, what they can do and which banks are deploying them. Michael will also discuss whether we are likely to see an Australian Digital Dollar soon, as well as what is the likely impact for Blockchain and DeFi.
CBDC's are a hot topic in the blockchain industry at the moment, with the Bank for International Settlements releasing new reports summarising the progress on CBDC development to date, the Reserve Bank of Australia revealing its Ethereum-based testing of a wholesale CBDC, and the Bank of England releasing a new discussion paper.
Commenting on the move to a virtual event, host Adriana Belotti said:
Not hosting public a gathering is the socially responsible thing to do at this time, as we fight to slow down the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

Jazz Osvald is our new co-organiser and we'll work to finalize the technical details next week and post an update, not only about the next live broadcast, but also about any other channels we find to keep the community chatter going.
